What We Did in Art Class-Kindergarten & 1st Grade Flew to Japan!
In our Art World Tour, Mrs. Sullan has the Kindergarten and First Grade put on their seat belts and they pretend ( yes, I have to reassure some that we are not really flying to Japan) that their ears are popping and the airline stewardess, ( Mrs. Sullan ) hands out one smarty candy to help with that.
The students learned that fans in Japan are used in many various ways. Fanning for when one is hot, but also used by cheerleaders instead of pompoms. Also their used to be military fans, not made of paper, fans for dancing, decorating and serving tea on or presenting a gift.
Here is a photo of the fun fans using watercolor resist technique…. waxy crayons resisting the watercolor paint applied over the design.
