2nd Grade Raises Money for Manatees

2nd Grade at their bake sale

Two of the Second Grade students, Alaina and Brianna, were reading a book about manatees and found that they are an endangered species.  The Second Graders wanted to do something to help, so they had a bake sale.

Mrs. Tyler baked over 300 sugar cookies and all of the Second Grade hand decorated each cookie. The “Save the Manatees Bake Sale” was a HUGE success! They sold out of all of their cookies and were able to raise $300.  That’s enough to adopt 15 manatees.

Each Second Grader will get to pick their own manatee to adopt.  They will be adopting the manatees from the Save the Manatee Club in Florida.

“Great job to everyone who helped out. We couldn’t have done it without you!!” Mrs. Tyler, 2nd Grade.
