Honoring our Veterans. Veteran's Day 2014

November 14, 2014

Veteran's Day is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice which ended World War I.  Veterans are thanked for their services to the United States on that day.  Odell Grade School held their annual Veteran's Day Program this past week.  The OGS student council, Savannah L, Shayla L, Jaclyn S, Caitlin H, Brandon H, Tyler M, Kaleb B, Logan D, Alyssa K, Kendall T, Grace M, and Christina P, along with their sponsors, Mrs. Carolyn Koehn and Mrs. Summer Pearson, sponsored the program

Odell Color Guard Post 666 presented the colors and the Jr. High Band played the Star Spangled Banner.  Ms. Deb Cagley was the mistress of ceremonies.  "In Flanders Fields" by Lieutenant Colonel John Alexander McCrae was recited by 8th graders Emmy M, Bethany J, and Savannah L.  2nd grader Avia K, 4th grader Karson M, and 8th grader Shayla L spoke about what their veteran means to them.  Mr. Don Fortna of the Ponitac War Museum was the featured speaker.  The program ended with the playing of TAPS by Jaclyn S and Madelyn D.
